Out Look   Borrowmoss Farm Cottages - each sleeps 4
The 3 cottages, Teal, Greylag and Wigeon, have been converted to a high standard from one of the farm byres, Each consists of two twin bedrooms, bathroom with bath and shower, good sized living room with TV and an open plan kitchen with hob and combined microwave. A shared utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer is attached together with a good sized drying room.
Borrowmoss   All units are fully heated from a central system with solar heating supplementing the OF boiler; this arrangement, combined with the excellent insulation in the cottages themselves, makes for warm and energy efficient units. Thus no additional charges are made for services, the costs of which are included in the tariff. All the cottages are on one level, with no steps and easy access.

We supply a mattress blanket, two pillows and a quilt with protective covers for each bed. For those with young children, baby sitting arrangments can be made for the evenings. A cot and high chair are also available. Kennels are provided free for kennel dogs; well behaved house dogs are welcome inside.   SittingBed Room
We are on a working farm, with our own dogs, cattle, so regrettably dogs cannot be allowed to range freely. Cars are parked immediately in front of the cottages.

Margaret runs a prize winning pedigree herd of mainly black Galloway Beef cattle, but with some dun cows and a very fine bull - Fusilier 2nd of Castlemilk. For nearly half the year the cattle graze on the 130 acres (53 Ha) of inks or salt marsh of the Cree Estuary, benefiting from the variety of grasses with their natural mineral content. This breed is in the premier league of beef cattle and there is no recorded case of a black Galloway having had BSE.Galloways, clearly a native breed were bred to thrive on poorer ground and can winter in quite severe conditions. Their growth is much slower than most continental breeds, but on a diet of grass, they produce far better tasting meat.

  Course fishing   Out & About
Fishing, Cycling, Off-Road Driving, Hill-Walking, Bird Watching, Golf, Horse Riding, Literature and more are all available within a short distance of the cottages. The rivers Cree and Bladnoch and the Palnure Burn provide good salmon and sea-trout sport. Trout and coarse fishing is abundantly available from lochs and rivers in the area.  Sea fishing can also be enjoyed from nearby Isle of Whithorn.  Arrangements can be made for these, as well as shooting and stalking in season.
For hill walkers, Glen Trool, the Galloway hills and Southern Upland Way provide a variety of challenge together with wonderful scenery. There are several excellent golf courses within reasonable distance. Visitors can obtain a £3.00 discount from green fees at Newton Stewart Golf Club. Otherwise, for a serious golf break, you can use the Gateway to Golf Pass - 6 round weekday or 6 round weekend and a 10 round pass, which allow you to play nearly 30 golf courses.
