Crosswoodhill Farm Holiday Cottages near Edinburgh
by West Calder, West Lothian,

Holiday cottages offering self catering accommodation near to Edinburgh, Scotland.
Crosswoodhill won the prestigious Thistle Award from VisitScotland: Scottish Self-Catering Operator of the Year in both 2001 and 2005. Offering 4 superb properties, ranging from 3 STAR to 5 STAR, each stone-built property on this livestock farm is distinctly different. Each has its welcoming character and style and price-tag, but there's one unifying theme… the owners' constant care for their guests' enjoyment and relaxation. This is borne out by the number of guests who return year after year. Many have sampled each cottage and can't make up their minds which property they like best. Others have definite loyalties….

"Step from the cottage onto the hills and perhaps watch the shepherd at work close by. Relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity... as so many have done before you" ( click below for our Web Pages to read what they've said). Set in splendid isolation, yet so close to Edinburgh, this detached, traditional stone cottage was beautifully converted in 1994. Original pine doors, maple floors, velux roof lights, elm shutters and patio doors, all add up to warmth, space and light. 3 bedrooms each. Romantic!

Steading Cottage sleeps 6.
"This cottage is amazing! Quite the best of the 20 or so we've stayed in. Such incredible thought and care has been put into this house, down to the smallest detail." If you are happy to be at the heart of the farm, click on the Crosswoodhill website for more quotes like this and to view interior photos of this detached, 4 STAR cottage. Nestling right beside a farm shed and field, it was creatively transformed in 1998 from dereliction into a wonderful home. Light, white, spacious, inviting and warm. 3 bedrooms. Wheelchair friendly.   About the Farm
With so many alternative local and regional attractions beckoning, a week at Crosswoodhill can race by without our guests putting a foot in a field! But for an added-value holiday, why not set aside a little time to explore our 1800 acre livestock farm just outside the boundaries of the Pentland Hills Regional Park and see a little of what goes on? From May to October our Charolais Cross beef herd roam our hill. We have about 100 cattle with their calves. Watch them contentedly chewing the cud … or, just sometimes, gazing despairingly heavenwards when their coats receive an unexpected soaking. At 1000 feet above sea-level and rising, we are just that little bit closer to heaven!
